Electronic Books and eReaders, the Future of Book Reading

Ebooks Ebooks are a new form of digital media that allow users to read a traditional book in a digital format. Thats right, there are no pages to flip and no bulky, physical books to hold while you read. Ebooks allow the reader to scroll through a digital scan of the book with the click of a button or the touch of a finger. Usually, ebooks are designed to be used on a specifically formatted device, called an “eReader,” which stores and displays the ebooks. Most smart phones come standard with an eReader program that allows users to download and store numerous ebooks to take with them where ever they go. The devices that display ebooks are generally a hand held device with a digital screen similar to a PDA or cell phone. The Apple iPhone actually offers applications that allow the user to read ebooks on the iPhone.

Obviously, ebooks have created a revolution for book lovers of all ages because there is no longer a storage issue with the size of a book. Usually, when a person travels, they only have room for a few physical books, and carrying books can sometimes be a hassle. Ebooks give the reader the ability to store hundreds of books in a device that fits in their pocket. Also, the ebooks are so great because where as traditional books only have one, permanent font size throughout the book, ebooks allow the user to change the font size of the text for easier reading. Another great thing about ebooks is that the eReaders display light, like a computer screen, so the problem of trying to read in the dark will never happen with this new revolution in book reading.

Paper books have always set the standard for reading, and nothing is quite as classic as flipping through the pages of a traditional book. Ebooks were not designed to take the place of traditional paper books, but they are a modern way to technology lovers to store and review information. At this point, ebooks have become widely popular is just a few years because they give the user the ability to have thousands of pages of reading with them at all times, stored in such a tiny device. They have brought a new dimension to the distribution, sales, and storage of books, and they allow users to enjoy reading new material in fast and simple way. Even buying a new ebook only takes a few seconds, and it will instantly be downloaded to an eReader device. The best part is that there will be no shipping costs.

These new digital books have become so popular because they offer many features that traditional books cannot match. As mentioned, you can shrink and enlarge the font size of the text to make it easier to read. The eReader will allow users to add digital bookmarks and search for specific words or phrases within the text body. Not to mention, these digital ebooks are going to help the environment by cutting back on the amount of paper that the country consumes.

Ectaco JetBook Lite Comic Book Reading

What do you guys know about the nook, Ereader?

I just need some reviews…and the tech specs?
Does it have a back light? How long does the battery last? How much do the books cost (range) ? Is it better then the Kindle ? Any other important things throw in there, PLEASE!

All ebook readers doesn’t have backlight, but you can get a small extra light that you can clip on the reader. It works like reading books, just turn on the light if you want to read in the dark. The battery lasts for around a week, and books generally cost $10 – $15 (so books on the Nook is more expensive than books on the Kindle).

Between the Nook and the Kindle, I’ve mentioned pretty much between the two here:

So my vote goes to the Kindle.

The refurbished version is cheaper, but it only has free wireless within U.S., while the new Kindle has free international wireless. And you know, Amazon gave a price drop for the Kindle 2 just before Xmas. It is now at a really good price.

Hope this helps.
