What is the best ereader?

for christmas i am getting an ereader but i cant decide between the borders kobo, amazon kindle, sony ereader, or the b&n nook. i really like the idea of an ereader because there is no book stores near my town so i can’t get new books that often but if i had an ereader i wouldnt have to leave the house to download a book. Which has the best features(what are they) and has the cheapest books overall. Any other comments or reviews would be great. I’ve heard the best things about the kindle and worst about the nook and almost nothing about the sony or kobo.

also can you type anything on any of the ereaders. like a poem,short story or just a note of any sort.

There are lots of articles comparing them. There’s not that much difference unless you want color and then the Nook is your only choice or if you to download books from the library. Check out the links to some of the reviews. Go to a Target, Best Buy or store like that and try them out first.
