The eBook Reader Product Comparison

The shining moment of those hand-held devices happened since last year. That is why when everyone was making their own list of givable items which served as gifts for the past holiday seasons, the most common thing that is listed is that thing that is loved by everyone, an electronic book reader Kindle 2. According to an eBook Reader Product Comparison, out of the many varieties of eBook readers, the number one spot when it comes to having the greatest market share is competed by only three of them.

The three most known eBook readers in the market nowadays include the Amazon’s Kindle, Barnes and Noble’s Nook, and Sony Reader. Of course, since they are made by different experts from different companies, their specs, pricing, and privacy issues also vary one from the other. Thus, it is a great idea to find out what the experts would say and what those reviews would have to tell you about those various devices so that you’ll be guided in making up your mind to choose which one to trust and buy.

Nowadays, you don’t have to leave your house anymore so that you can go to the nearest bookstore for that book that you badly want to read. Thanks to Amazon for the convenience that came along with its introduction of that online bookstore where you can do your shopping anytime. Amazon did not stop from there. Later on, it also launched its very own eBook reader, the Kindle, which was a blessing to every reader there is. Based on the original Kindle, Amazon made some improvements on the device and put some add-on features into it and then introduced the second edition of Kindle, the Kindle 2.

By the way it looks, the improvised Kindle is slimmer, faster, and smarter than the original Kindle. Likewise, it guarantees fast download which is said to be done in a matter of minutes only. Also part of the package of this Kindle 2 are amazing features such as its developed E-Ink display, built-in dictionary, and a memory that is capable of storing not just hundreds but thousands of those books that you love to read. The device can even let you subscribe to other reading materials such as magazines, newspapers, and blogs.

Amazon Kindle 2 is also equipped with text-to-speech capability. Unlike the older version, its availability of Next Page keys which are smaller and inward-facing has resolved the previous concern on accidental page-turning. Apart from that, added on to this unit is a Home button that you can simply click for you to view the home screen right away. Other additional features include the device’s two stereo speakers on the rear part and a 3.5mm headphone jack on top.

Its QWERTY keyboard is now using rounded keys for you to create notes, search, enter web addresses and perform other applications on it easily. You will also notice that in Kindle 2, unlike the first one, the space bar is placed in front and in the center. It has been said that in such competition where one wants to be on top of the other, no one is going to win because everything lies on what the users need and want. Hence, one thing that you should remember before you decide which one to buy is to think of the following questions: how often you like to read, where you like to read, and how many books have you purchased in the previous year?

The Wolf Hall Tournament of E-Readers

Is this to much to ask for on Christmas?

Harry Potter and the sorcerer’s stone book
My Sisters Keeper movie
Sisterhood of the traveling pants 2 movie
A new alarm clock
Spanish to English electronic dictionary
A curling iron
Barnes and Nobles Gift Card
Kindle /nook
Soft headbands
Colorful scarves
Juicy sweatpants
A new iPod

Cross out Kindle (Nook is better) and Juicy sweatpants and you’ll be fine.
- Nook allows to lend books for 2 weeks to friends or to your other devices that run B&N app. Barnes & Noble allows (when you walk in with the Nook to B&N store) to read any available eBook for free while in the store via free provided in the store Wi-Fi. With Nook, while in BN store you get exclusive articles from top authors, and great offers including cafe treats and unique deals.
- Nook Color is better as a color e-Reader than Kindle simply because it has color and Kindle is black and white. Content that greatly benefits from color – such as kids books and magazines – looks much better and sharper on Nook Color’s screen. Nook Color is better as an e-Reader in general than iPad. It has a new generation screen which is anti-glare coated and is better performing in sunlight than iPad’s. Also, as it’s smaller in size than iPad, the text appears sharper on Nook’s screen. Also it has 12,000 (more soon) kids books that are built as a game with feedback.
Overall, Nook Color is more than e-Reader as you can also watch video and use Android applications on it. It’s a hybrid device, much more than just an e-Reader but not a full tablet as it doesn’t have a camera. If all you want is to read novels, Kindle (or the original e-Ink Nook) might be better for you. If you want something more from your device at half of the price of iPad or Galaxy tab, then Nook Color is your best bet.
- Nook (unlike Kindle) can be used for library ebooks.
- Nook (unlike Kindle) can be used for renting text-ebooks.
